Materials

Strain gages can be applied to various types of material. The selection of a suitable adhesive as well as the appropriate bonding technique play an important role.

The following materials are possible:

• steel
• cast iron
• aluminum
• titanium
• copper
• composites
• plastics/plastic fibers
• carbon fibers
• ceramic
• glass
• wood
• rubber

Other types of material are available upon request.

Depending on the material, the surface must be pretreated to ensure optimum traction to the strain gage.

For very flexible materials such as rubber, PE, or PP, special strain gages with ultra-high stress capability are used.
